Confederate monument valued at $500,000 disappears for weeks from Alabama in strange incident
Where’s the chair?
That’s the puzzling question officials and locals alike were left wondering in March after a chair monument honoring Confederate president Jefferson Davis believed to weigh around 500 pounds disappeared from its plot in Live Oak Cemetery in Selma, Ala.
The chair was recovered on April 9 all the way in New Orleans.
The United Daughters of the Confederacy, which the chair belongs to, alerted authorities that the monument was missing on March 20 and tried to raise awareness through an advertisement in a newspaper.
A group that identified itself as “White Lies Matter” then claimed to be behind it.
