JACKSONVILLE, Fla. A former Jacksonville Sheriff s Officer effectively pistol-whipped a man with his Taser following a car chase, according to a warrant for his arrest obtained by First Coast News.
According to the document, police body camera video shows Matthew Alimurung reaching over officers as they removed the man from his vehicle, strik[ing] the victim on the head area numerous times.
New section of Winston-Salem Northern Beltway set to open!

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. Just in time for the holidays, the N.C. Department of Transportation contractors plan to open the section of the Winston-Salem Northern Beltway between U.S. 158 and U.S. 311.
According to NCDOT, the section is set to open Wednesday evening – six months ahead of schedule!
“This is a critical section of the Northern Beltway project, primarily because of how it will reduce congestion on N.C. 66 and improve the daily lives of people in the Walkertown area,” said NCDOT Division 9 Engineer Pat Ivey. “We couldn’t be more pleased to open this portion of the highway just in time for the holidays.”
A Jacksonville police officer s ex-wife, arrested with him in July on charges of killing a convenience store owner in 1999, accepted a plea deal Friday in exchange for testifying against him, the State Attorney s Office said.
Melissa Jo Schafer, 51, jailed along with William Robert Baer Jr. on second-degree murder and armed-robbery charges, agreed to testify in the stabbing death of 39-year-old Saad Kawaf, the State Attorney s Office said.
With Public Defender Charlie Cofer at her side, a tearful Schafer confirmed her voluntary pleas to Circuit Court Judge Gilbert Feltel Jr. Are you entering these pleas of guilty because you did indeed commit these crimes,? Feltel asked.
