Valley News - Forum, March 14: Lebanon schools are in good hands

Published: 3/13/2021 10:00:15 PM Modified: 3/13/2021 10:00:12 PM Lebanon schools are in good hands I served on the Lebanon School Board for the past three years. I would like to share with the Lebanon community that, from my perspective, the schools are in very good hands with the district administration team that is in place. I have worked closely with Superintendent Joanne Roberts, Business Administrator Tim Ball, Director of Facilities Dana Arey and Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Lisa Scolaro. I have witnessed the dedication and professionalism of each of these folks, and I find solace in the fact that they are at the helm of our district. Superintendent Roberts and her team have the best interests of the students of Lebanon at heart, and they work tirelessly to make the schools as effective and efficient as possible. Valley News - Forum, March 12: Vaccine clinic in Canaan was a real shot in the arm

Forum, March 12: Vaccine clinic in Canaan was a real ‘shot in the arm’ Published: 3/11/2021 10:00:14 PM Modified: 3/11/2021 10:00:12 PM Vaccine clinic in Canaan was a real ‘shot in the arm’ On March 1, we each received two “shots in the arm.” The first, a physical shot in the arm, strengthened our resistance to COVID-19. The second, a psychological shot in the arm, strengthened our sense of community. Both took place at Mascoma Community Health Center’s COVID-19 vaccination clinic. The procedure was well-coordinated and efficient. At one of the stops on the way to the injection site, we chatted with Alan Ricard of the emergency medical team.

Valley News - Forum, March 8: City s property value increase is a good sign

Forum, March 8: City’s property value increase is a good sign Published: 3/7/2021 10:00:13 PM Modified: 3/7/2021 10:05:12 PM Increase in city’s property value is a good sign Saturday’s edition of the Valley News included a paid political advertisement that referred to a 17.8% increase in Lebanon’s total assessed property values between 2015 and 2020. This reference might be interpreted to suggest that an increase in the value of total real property in the city is related to increased property taxes. As a city councilor, I want to ensure that accurate information is being provided to residents. It is important to understand that a general increase in property values over time is an indicator of a healthy and growing local economy. Higher property values reflect the desirability of a town or city to buyers. A trend toward decreasing property values over time would not be a good sign, and would be typical of a community with a declining economy.
