After former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was convicted of murdering George Floyd, the Associated Press reported that high-profile civil rights attorney Ben Crump wants to redirect national attention to the 2019 death of Pamela Turner, a Black Texas woman killed by a Baytown police officer.

“If you was outraged when you saw the video of George Floyd got killed by the police, then you should be equally outraged when you see the video of how they killed Pam Turner, an unarmed Black woman laying down on her back that he shot in the face, in the chest and in the stomach,” Crump said Tuesday, according to the AP.

Family of Pamela Turner files federal lawsuit against City of Baytown, former police officer, apartment complex KHOU 11 Staff

The family of Pamela Turner has filed a federal lawsuit against former Baytown police officer Juan Pedro De La Cruz, the City of Baytown and the Brixton Apartments where she was killed.
Editor s Note: The video above is from a report in September 2020 when De La Cruz was indicted in connection with Turner s death.
De La Cruz allegedly killed Turner in May 2019 during an altercation at the apartment complex where they both lived.
After an investigation by the Texas Rangers, De La Cruz was charged with aggravated assault by a public servant. He was also fired from the Baytown Police Department.

The family of Pamela Turner, a Black woman who was killed by a Baytown police officer in May 2019, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the city in federal court Thursday.
The suit lists as defendants officer Juan Delacruz, the city of Baytown and Cypress Point Equity Partners, which manages the apartment complex where Tuner lived and died.
