The duo was on their return journey after delivering fuel to Masindi port in Masindi district.

Patrick Okema, Aswa regional police spokesperson, said in a statement that Alex Ogwal, a 35-year-old driver and Howard Obaro, a 21-year-old fuel attendant with Shine Energy Petrol Station crushed into Karuma Bridge and plunged into River Nile. He said the two were travelling from the northern district of Lira taking fuel to Masindi Port in the midwestern district of Kiryandongo.
