LUMPUR: Chinese New Year celebrations including prayer ceremonies are only allowed to be held at home with family members, said Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said prayers at temples were also not allowed, except for five of the temple’s committee members and people were encouraged to perform the ceremony at their respective homes.
“This standard operating procedure (SOP) was complied with during Hari Raya Aidilfitri, as well as Deepavali. However, for Sarawak we leave it to the state government to decide because there is the Movement Control Order (MCO), there is the Conditional MCO (CMCO),” he told a press conference on the development of the MCO, today.
ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police have arrested a 60-year-old man for impersonating a senior police officer at the Iskandar Puteri police station here.
Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said the suspect, who works as a security guard, claimed to be an officer from Sentral police station, Johor Baru, at the information counter on Tuesday (Jan 26) at about 12.10pm.
“He then left the police station after taking pictures of the counter. Police personnel who worked at the counter then lodged a report over the matter.
“The suspect was later arrested at about 6pm on the same day at Kampung Ulu Pulai, Pekan Nenas, Pontian, ” he said in a statement here on Wednesday (Jan 27).
