People decry power outages in Ramazan Peshawar April 19, 2021 MANSEHRA: City and its suburbs have been witnessing frequent and prolonged power outages since the beginning of Ramazan. “The government earlier announced that there would be no power outages in the month of Ramazan but unfortunately the outages have doubled and it has no schedule,” stated Ajmal Khan, a resident of Channia area. The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) has been observing prolonged and unscheduled load-shedding even at Iftari and Sehri timings. Ajmal said that people were suffering the brunt of the frequent and prolonged power outages. “The government has miserably failed to address people’s issues as it could neither control the highest inflation rate in the history of the country nor could it address the load-shedding,” said Hisham Khan, another local resident.

Jirga warns of protest over heavy power loadshedding Peshawar April 15, 2021 PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Qaumi Jirga, an alliance of various political parties, civil society and traders, has expressed concern over excessive electricity load-shedding in Ramazan in the metropolis and surrounding areas. It warned of besieging the Wapda House, Chief Minister’s and Governor’s houses if the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) failed to ensure a smooth power supply to the consumers. The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting held at the residence of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader and spokesperson for the Jirga, Arbab Khizer Hayat, on Wednesday.

Windstorm continues to hit Peshawar Peshawar April 2, 2021 PESHAWAR: A strange weather phenomenon has been hitting the city and many other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the last three days due to strong windstorm. The strong winds began on Tuesday and have continued unabated. The weathermen are saying it would continue at least until Friday or perhaps even beyond that on the weekend. The gutsy winds make a frightful noise and many people with weak physique remain concerned that it would make them fall. Peshawar reportedly was hit the hardest, though Bannu, and many other districts too suffered the windstorm. Many old people said this kind of weather has been rare. They said they don’t remember such strong winds continuing for days at a stretch.
