UoP contractual employees seek regularisation - Newspaper

PESHAWAR: The contractual employees of the University of Peshawar on Monday held a protest demonstration demanding regularisation of their services. The protesters holding banners and placards inscribed with their demands marched from the campus and held a rally outside the Peshawar Press Club. They were shouting slogans for solution to their demands. Speaking on the occasion, the Contract Employees University of Peshawar president Altaf Khan and general secretary Saifullah Khan said they had been serving on different posts for last 13 years but the university administration was yet to regularise them. They pointed out that their salaries had also been withheld for past eight months without any reason. They said the university was still understaffed but the administration was reluctant to regularise their services.

Rally flays growing price-hike

February 26, 2021 PESHAWAR: The members of Jamaat-i-Islami labour wing on Thursday staged a demonstration against the growing price-hike in the country. Led by Murad Khan, Nadir Zaman, Khalil Hashmi and others, the protesters carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans in favour of their demands marched on the road outside Peshawar Press Club. The speakers said the growing price-hike and unemployment have made life miserable for the people but the inefficient and corrupt rulers were least bothered to provide relief to them. They asked the chief of army staff and chief justice of Pakistan to take notice of the situation.

Killing of four women protested in Peshawar Peshawar February 25, 2021 PESHAWAR: Civil society activists on Wednesday staged a demonstration to protest against the killing of four women workers in North Waziristan the other day. Led by the office-bearers of the Aurat Foundation outside the Peshawar Press Club. The protesters were carrying banners and placards and chanted slogans against the tragic incident. Prominent among the participants were the representative of Aurat Foundation Shabiba Ayaz and chairperson Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (G) Aisha Gulalai who condemned the killing of the four women and injuring driver of Sabawoon NGO in North Waziristan. The speakers said that women in Pakistan have no security and safety. They deplored the silence of the provincial government over such incidents in North Waziristan.
