PESHAWAR: The academic and non-academic staff of different universities Thursday staged a massive protest to press the government to withdraw the Higher Education Department’s letter to the public sector varsities and accept their other demands.
The teachers and other employees started gathering at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET)’s Chowk in the early morning and then launched a protest march towards the main Jamrud Road.
Chanting slogans and holding banners, the large number of protesting employees passed through Road No. 2 of the University of Peshawar, main Jamrud Road, Palosai Road and then entered the university from a separate gate.

UoP teachers threaten to launch protest

PESHAWAR: The teaching fraternity of the University of Peshawar on Tuesday set a three-day deadline for the vice-chancellor to hold a meeting with their representatives regarding the pressing problems being faced by the university, otherwise, they would launch a protest drive from next week.
The decision was made in the executive body meeting of Peshawar University Teachers Association (PUTA) held here with its president Dr Fazle Nasir in the chair. The meeting discussed that the problems in the university have been intensified and multiplied due the rude and stubborn attitude of vice chancellor Dr Mohammad Idrees.
Puta expresses dissatisfaction over policies of UoP admin

PESHAWAR: Peshawar University Teachers Association (PUTA) has expressed dissatisfaction over the policies and actions of the university administration, and announced not to support any step, action or decision on part of the university, which is against the law of the institution.
In an open letter to Vice-Chancellor Dr Mohammad Idrees, the representative body of the teaching fraternity of the university expressed serious concerns over certain developments.
The vice-chancellor, according to the letter, expressed his pledge to take every step for the uplift of the university and that he would go by the law of the land and the law of the university. Believing his statements to be true, the teaching fraternity assured full support to the vice-chancellor in his endeavors, the letter stated.
