BELLEVUE, Wash. - While cities like Seattle are desperately trying to find ways to clear homeless encampments, Bellevue is getting ready to host one next month.
Starting next month, the well manicured lawn behind Temple B’nai Torah in the Crossroads neighborhood could become home to 40 homeless men and women. Rabbi Sydney Danziger says tents, pets, and all belonging will be allowed.
“These are good working folks who are just looking for a stop gap,” says Danziger.
This will be the latest stop for Tent City 4, an encampment that moves around from one community to another. This time around, the Jewish temple, the City of Bellevue, and homeless advocacy group Share/Wheel are partnering to make this happen.
