Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders drew fashion praise on social media for his cozy, comfortable inauguration wear.
The $45 black crewneck sweatshirt is made in the USA and union printed, in true Sanders fashion, CNN reported.
The sweatshirt seems to be as popular as the meme it s currently sold out due to overwhelming demand, according to the campaign store website, which notes it could take up to eight weeks to receive the item.
Age Well, the largest provider of Meals on Wheels in Vermont, said on Twitter it s BLOWN AWAY by the support for our Meals on Wheels program from the sweatshirt sales.

Knitters are quick to jump on a fiber-related theme, and since I shared the Bernie mittens colorwork chart yesterday I’ve seen more than half a dozen more Bernie mittens knitting patterns pop up on Raverly and elsewhere. Let’s take a look!
You can find all sorts of Bernie-themed projects and products on Etsy.
Vermont’s Finest by Meg Harlan is another free one that uses a basic mitten pattern and uses colorwork inspired by Bernie’s mittens, though this one includes the pattern on both sides. It should be noted the chart hasn’t been knit, even by the designer, but she says she will update as needed once she’s knit herself a pair.
This week, the headlines have been dominated by Joe Biden, who was sworn in as the 46th president of the United States.
While photos of Biden were widely shared, photos of another senator almost stole the limelight, as an image of Bernie Sanders in a folding chair became a global meme.
Off the back of the meme, Snapchat has launched a hilarious new filter that allows users to place Sanders and his folding chair around their homes, using augmented reality.
The photo became a worldwide meme after the Vermont politician was photographed in a fold-down chair, wearing a grey, oversized jacket and some knitted wool mittens at Biden s inauguration

It’s the gift that keeps on giving. As you may already be aware, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were sworn in as president and vice president of the United States on January 20, 2021. But neither our new president or vice president received nearly the amount of attention that Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders did. A photo was taken of Sanders wearing his signature coat, face mask, and enormous mittens, posed in the most grumpy-old-man type of way and it immediately went viral post-inauguration.
In less than 24 hours, the photo inspired thousands of memes across various social media platforms highlighting Sanders’ very sensible outfit choice for both a historical and televised event. Many emphasized the ginormous mittens that were a gift from a friend of Sanders’, Jen Ellis, a teacher in Vermont who makes mittens from repurposed wool sweaters and lined fleece made of plastic bottles. Scores of people have become enthralled with Sen. Bernie Sanders mittens after his inaugural attire went viral.
The only problem: The Vermont elementary school teacher who crafted them out of recycled wool is completely sold out. Sadly, I have no more mittens for sale, Jen Ellis wrote in a tweet after Sanders casual winter outfit took the Internet by storm on Wednesday.
During the inaugural ceremonies on Wednesday, Sanders wore a brown winter jacket made by Burton Snowboards and a pair of mittens, which spawned countless memes online. Consequently, it also helped to highlight Ellis creation. All the buzz prompted her to notify potential customers that she no longer has any mittens left in stock.
