Sydneysiders are warned to take extra caution when driving on the city s roads this holiday season, after fatalities in urban areas remained steady this year despite months of quieter motorist activity.
Double demerits come into effect from 12.01am on Thursday, December 24, with NSW Police targeting seatbelt and speeding offences, motorcyclists not wearing helmets and drivers using mobile phones over the 11-day holiday period.
Motorists are urged to take particular caution around cyclists and pedestrians this Christmas.
