It is too early to say whether the dolomite sand dumped in Manila Bay has been washed out, said Environment Undersecretary Jonas Leones.
According to Leones, the “dolomite beach” project is not yet complete, and “geotubes” have also been installed to ensure that artificial sand is not eroded.
“We have put in place ‘yong mga geotubes to ensure na ‘di mawa-wash out ‘yong mga dolomite. Siguro too early to say na nag-wash out na siya,” said Leones.
After the civil society organization, Oceana Philippines said in April that the artificial white sand is eroding.
“From December 2020 to February 2021, this dolomite beach has eroded by at least 300 square meters. They are refilling it again and even extending the area,” said Oceana Vice President Gloria Ramos.

Duterte jet ski promise maybe a joke but threat on fishers safety is not PAMALAKAYA
Published May 12, 2021 4:56pm President Rodrigo Duterte s campaign promise may have been a joke but the effects of continued Chinese presence on Filipino fishermen s livelihood and security should not be taken lightly, fisherfolk group PAMALAKAYA said Wednesday. In his weekly Talk to the Nation, Duterte said he was just joking when he made a promise in the 2016 elections that he will ride a jet ski to go to Spratlys Island and tell China that the West Philippine Sea belonged to the Philippines. Duterte was answering the query of fisherman Carlo Montehermozo when he made the promise back in 2016.

The Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) said Canlas is currently in a coma and hooked to a mechanical ventilator at the critical care unit of Jose B. Lingad Memorial Hospital in Pampanga.
His daughter, Jenette Canlas, told the Manila Bulletin that the peasant leader has tested positive in the COVID-19 antigen test, and his oxygen level is still low despite being intubated and connected to a ventilator.
The peasant group suspected that Canlas likely got infected while in detention and under the custody of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).
