Qhubeka ASSOS take on Fleche Wallonne & the famous Mur de Huy

Content provided by Last updated: 2 hours ago On Wednesday Team Qhubeka ASSOS (www.TeamQhubeka.com) will line up at the second of the three Ardennes Classics, La Fleche Wallonne. The Belgian UCI World Tour classic splits the other two Ardennes races, Amstel Gold Race and Liege-Bastogne-Liege. La Fleche Wallonne will see a familiar route for the 85th edition of the race, including 3 ascents of its famous climb, the Mur de Huy, with the finish line being at the summit of the final ascent. The Mur de Huy will no doubt be the main feature of the race, with a large group expected to arrive at the foot of the final 1.2km climb again, to “sprint” up the steep gradient which maxes out at a gradient of 26%.

Team Qhubeka ASSOS fired up for Amstel Gold Race

Amstel Gold Race is the first of three Ardennes Classics and the UCI World Tour ranked classic will take place on Sunday in South Limburg, Netherlands. The 55th edition of the Amstel Gold Race is set to be a unique edition of the race with a revised route, due to Covid-19 restrictions, consisting of a 16,9km lap around Valkenburg that will be completed 12 times before one final circuit of 15,9km brings the race to its conclusion, for a total of 216km. The climbs of Geulhemmerberg, Bemmelberg and Cauberg will feature on each lap, with only the Cauberg being bypassed on the final lap. The championship style race will ensure Sunday is a race of attrition.

Brabantse Pijl opens the road to Ardennes Classics

Brabantse Pijl has traditionally been the transitional classic between the cobbled classics of West Flanders, like Gent Wevelgem and Ronde Van Vlaanderen, and the hillier Ardennes classics, like Fleche-Wallonne and Liege-Bastogne-Liege. As the route includes cobbled roads and numerous short climbs ranging between 0.3km – 1.5km in length, Team Qhubeka ASSOS (TeamQhubeka.com) will take the start with a team suited to the varied terrain. Sander Armee, Connor Brown, Victor Campenaerts, Reinardt Janse van Rensburg, Bert-Jan Lindeman, Andreas Stokbro and Robert Power will be on duty for our South African registered UCI World Team.
