As previously noted, we recently spoke with Berkshire County District Attorney, Andrea Harrington. In the interview she covered an array of topics and issues facing the Berkshires. One of the topics we covered was a pilot program - Service Emotional Learning for Elementary Students. This program is part of Harrington s office s Juvenile Justice Initiative. Harrington described the initiative along with the pilot program Our goal is to keep kids out of the justice system but more importantly to give young people the tools that they need to thrive and be successful here in our community. Mass Auditor: Berkshire County Arc Improperly Used $778K In State Funding

4:29 On the same day she announced she won’t seek a fourth term next year, Massachusetts State Auditor Suzanne Bump released a report this morning alleging improper use of funds by Berkshire County Arc. The Pittsfield-based nonprofit provides services to people with disabilities. Bump says the organization misused almost $780,000 from the millions it receives annually from state agencies. The report examines the years between 2017 and 2019. Neither Berkshire County Arc nor the Berkshire County District Attorney’s office immediately responded to a request for comment on the report from WAMC News. WAMC spoke to Bump about the audit report, as well as her decision to not seek reelection in 2022.

08:50AM / Thursday, May 20, 2021 SPRINGFIELD, Mass. The Board of Directors at Big Y Foods, Inc. appointed Stephen M. Creed to the new position of vice president of distribution and logistics.    Creed is responsible for leading Big Y’s distribution teams at their newly expanded 430,000 square foot Fresh & Local Distribution Center in Springfield. In addition, he will serve as an advisor to the Board of Directors. He reports to Michael P. D’Amour, executive vice president and COO.     He began his career in 1979 with Stop & Shop, Inc. where he held various positions including produce and grocery receiving and operations. Throughout his career, he’s held positions of increasing responsibility at companies such as Spartan Stores in Michigan where he was the assistant warehouse manager. At C & S Wholesale Grocers, Inc. in Massachusetts and Vermont, he started as facility manager and then became director of perishables distribution.
