Suzy Shinn had been working with Weezer as an assistant engineer for more than six years, though she never expected to get called into the big chair. However, the L.A.-based producer’s impressive resume had more than prepared her for that undertaking. At 26, the engineer can boast credits from the likes of Fall Out Boy and Katy Perry to Dua Lipa and Panic! at the Disco. But working with Weezer? That was an all-time career high.
“I was so terrified the first day [of working with Weezer],” Shinn recalls over the phone from her home in Los Feliz. “Rivers is a creative and an artist, and it’s hard to be an artist in front of people that you don’t know and especially vulnerable and intimate when it comes to lyrics and melodies.”

Instead, “The Music and the Mirror” focuses on the Beth’s sadness over closing her dance studio, Madison’s search for a wedding dress, Toby’s bonding with his much-softer-than-when-we-last-saw-him pop and Rebecca’s pride after seeing Kate finally find her groove. Oh, and Kevin sees Zoe and starts to question all his life choices so far, including the big one on the horizon.
Lima Senior’s Phillips wins Woolley scholarship
LIMA Lima Senior senior Noah Phillips is the recipient of the Lima Area Concert Band’s Woolley Scholarship after his “nearly flawless performance” of Aram Khachaturian’s Toccata for Piano.
Phillips, who started playing piano at 5 years old, plans to attend the Berklee School of Music this fall. He plays French horn for the Lima Senior band and sings in the school’s choir.
