North Bergen students have transitioned to hybrid instruction ×
Students at North Bergen High School began rotating back to classrooms on April 26.
Students in the North Bergen School District have returned to their classrooms. While the district planned to initiate hybrid instruction earlier in the year, that shift was repeatedly pushed back in response to pandemic conditions.
Administrators, supervisors, directors, and support staff returned full time on March 1. Teachers and staff returned on March 15.
Ahead of the return, the district had been vaccinating its teachers and education staff. Schools have been outfitted with air purifiers and upgraded temperature screening devices, among other safety protocols.

Less than 50 New Jersey school districts remain closed for in-person instruction, including half of the 10 largest, as the number of fully in-person districts continue to rise.
As of April 26, 470 school districts were hybrid, 47 were remote and 246 were fully in-person the fifth week in a row the number of in-person districts increased. Forty-eight districts have different educational formats for different schools.

North Bergen Superintend of Schools Dr. George Solter said the district eventually wants to return to in-person instruction.
The North Bergen School District is working toward getting kids back in their classrooms, according to Superintendent of Schools Dr. George Solter. The district went virtual last March and will now remain so until mid-to-late March this year.
Currently, the district is looking to implement a plan for the gradual return to completely in-person instruction by first phasing in hybrid instruction.
Over the summer, the district was initially planning to start the year with a hybrid instruction plan, featuring the return of teachers teaching from the classroom and limited students in-person. West New York schools stay virtual as North Hudson cases climb

As North Hudson is hit by a second surge of the COVID-19 pandemic, school instruction plans have been shifting.
West New York
West New York will continue its virtual instruction plan, Superintendent of Schools Clara Brito Herrera said in a letter to the community on Dec. 7. According to Herrera, the school district aimed to phase in to hybrid instruction at some point in the year.
The district planned to reevaluate the learning plan at the end of the first marking period, but has now decided to remain virtual until the end of the second marking period in January of 2021. The decision was made in consultation with the West New York Health Department and Board of Education.
