Co-operative colleagues are on the hunt for local causes who want to fundraise with nearby stores in 2021.
Southern Co-op’s local food stores currently have 169 charity partners which range from scout groups and pre-schools to food banks and healthcare trusts.
With a lot of fundraising cancelled last year, these existing local partnerships will continue into 2021 but there are 33 stores which are still looking for a nearby cause to support.
The Co-operative Food stores appealing for a new partner are spread across Berkshire, Dorset, Devon, Hampshire, London, Somerset, Surrey, Sussex, and Wiltshire.
Holly Bramble, community and campaign co-ordinator at Southern Co-op, said: “We all know how devastating 2020 has been for charities and local causes as the majority of fundraising activities had to be cancelled or put on hold.
A LOCAL cider producer will now have its products on the shelves of regional co-operative. The Taunton Cider Company will have its ciders added to the ‘Local Flavours’ range offered by Southern Co-Op. That means that its products will be on offer in a total of 16 stores run by the independent co-operative in Berkshire, Bristol, Devon, Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire. The Local Flavours range currently has around 200 local suppliers and 200 stores in 11 different counties across the south of England, with products ranging from eggs and milk to luxury chocolate and alcoholic drinks. Taunton Cider was once the largest cider company in the world and, since it was reformed in 2016, the company has sought to bring back its history and heritage by making a traditional craft cider, using proper methods.

Council gives go-ahead for eight controversial new Burnham-On-Sea homes
Controversial plans for eight new homes in Burnham-On-Sea were given the final go-ahead by district councillors on Tuesday (January 12th).
88 people signed a petition objecting against the plans amid concern about a likely rise in noise, increased traffic, the height of the properties compared to surrounding homes, a greater risk of flooding, and a loss of visual amenity.
The planning application is for a new development of eight homes on land at 150 Berrow Road on the site of an existing outbuilding, which is to be demolished. The application was initially submitted in 2017 and was approved in 2018.
