The Retirement Of Board Chair, Babatunde Savage, FCA And Appointment Of Dr. Omobola Johnson As Incoming Board Chair.
Guinness Nigeria today announces the notice of retirement of its long-serving and indefatigable Board Chair, Mr. Babatunde Savage by June 30, 2021.
The Company is also pleased to announce arrangements for pioneer Nigerian Minister of Communication & Technology and serving Guinness Nigeria Board member, Dr. Omobola Johnson to be appointed and assume the role of Board Chair with effect from 1st July 2021.
In his letter notifying the Board of his retirement in compliance with applicable Corporate Governance regulations, Mr. Savage expressed his pleasure at the opportunity to have been a part of the wonderful Guinness Nigeria story over the last four decades.
Guinness Nigeria has announced the notice of retirement of its Board Chair Mr. Babatunde Savage, effective June 30, 2021. Savage will be replaced by Nigeria’s Pioneer Minister of Communication and Technology Dr. Omobola Johnson who is also a member of the Board with effect from July 1, 2021.
Savage has served as Guinness Board Chair for twelve years.
In his letter of notification to the Board, Savage expressed his pleasure at the opportunity to have been a part of the wonderful Guinness Nigeria story over the last four decades. He also thanked the Board of Guinness Nigeria and Diageo UK for the opportunity to have served the company in many capacities.

The search for the new best teacher in secondary schools in Nigeria has begun as the submission of entries for the 2021 edition of the Maltina Teacher-of-the-Year award competition kicked-off last week in Lagos.
The Corporate Affairs Director, Nigerian Breweries Plc, the organiser and sponsor of the competition, Mrs Sade Morgan, announced the kick-off at a news conference in Lagos, saying the seven-year-old initiative has yielded tremendous impact on teachers, the teaching profession and education sector generally in the country.
According to her, Nigerian Breweries came up with the Maltina Teacher-of-the-Year award on the platform of its social arm, Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund, to identify, showcase and celebrate exemplary teachers in both the public and private secondary schools nationwide and the entries are free of charge.
