WASHINGTON As expected by anyone who has paid attention to the way Republicans have operated for many years now, GOP House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy announced Monday that he is against what has been touted as a bi-partisan proposal to form an independent commission to investigate the Jan. 6 insurrection. His move will reduce Republican support for the measure in the House.
Republicans negotiated with Democrats to come up with the bill, successfully watering it down to essentially give the GOP members of the commission the ability to issue their own subpoenas and cancel things the Democrats want. Just like countless prior negotiations where the GOP waters down a Democratic proposal but then proceeds to vote against it anyway, this is what McCarthy has now made clear he will try again.

In true fascist form, GOP continues to push two Big Lies May 17, 2021 9:33 AM CDT By John Wojcik

WASHINGTON Hundreds of millions around the world watched on television and social media on Jan. 6 as thousands of Trump supporters stormed the Capitol in an insurrection aimed at overturning the results of the 2020 election. The five deaths they caused were real and documented for the world to see, as were the injuries, many serious, sustained by more than 140 police officers. Hundreds were arrested as they carried out these crimes and many of those a
Letter: Big lies have consequences By Chris Langlois, Vancouver

Let’s look at Big Lies. Starting in 1919, the German military leaders started spreading the Big Lie that Jews and Communists caused Germany’s defeat in World War I. Fifteen years later, the democratic Weimar Republic dead, Hitler used that Big Lie as partial justification for his extermination of 6 million Jews. Lies have consequences.
Today the new Big Lie is that Trump won the election. To believe that, one must believe in a massive conspiracy involving Republican and Democratic judges, state representatives, and voting machines rigged nationwide.
America’s biggest Big Lie has always been that Black people are not human beings. Trump’s Big Lie builds upon the existing lie about Black people. In fact, if they had not voted in large numbers, he would have won. True. For the last 150-plus years their votes have been suppressed, first by Jim Crow and now by new restrictive laws passed by
Simon & Schuster Staffers Are Still Very Pissed About Mike Pence’s Book Deal

Earlier this year, in an open letter, more than 200 staffers at Simon & Schuster called on the book publisher to cancel its book deal with former Vice President Mike Pence and not work with other Trump administration officials. The top brass at the publishing house were unmoved by the entreaty, however, and reasserted their intention to bring Pence’s book to market. “We come to work each day to publish, not cancel,” the company said in a statement.
The Big Lie, one of the Left’s Big Lies, is that the only person killed on January 6th was Ashli Babbitt, a Trump supporter who was reportedly killed by a black Capitol Hill police officer. The video of the ‘execution’ seems to show there was no justified use of force.
There is NO evidence the officer issued a warning as he spent more than a minute lining himself up to shoot the unarmed Mrs. Babbitt.
Rep. Paul Gosar of Arizona courageously brought up the killing of Ashli Babbitt.
“Who executed Ashli Babbitt?” Gosar asked former acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen during a tense exchange at a hearing about the protest.
