Two Huskers Selected as NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship Winners

Abigail Knapton (Swimming & Diving) were honored Friday as winners of NCAA postgraduate scholarships for the 2020-21 winter season. Both Hymanson and Knapton will receive a $10,000 scholarship, as two of the 42 athletes (21 male, 21 female) across 17 total sports to capture the prestigious national honors. The NCAA awards up to 126 postgraduate scholarships to student-athletes who excel academically and athletically and who are at least in their final year of intercollegiate athletics competition. Hymanson has been a standout performer for the Husker men’s gymnastics program over the last four seasons. He captained the Huskers to a fourth-place finish at the 2021 NCAA Championships, the third time NU reached the NCAA Team Finals during his career. In the classroom, he is four-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and three-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar.  Hymanson was a first-team CoSIDA Academic All-District selection in 2020 and has been on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor

Three Buckeyes Earn All-Big Ten Honors

Share COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Big Ten Conference on Friday announced its postseason all-conference teams and individual awards with three Buckeyes who were honored: Jack Myers (first team), Ryan Terefenko (second team and Sportsmanship Award honoree) and Tre Leclaire (second team). For Myers, it’s the first all-conference award of his career. Leclaire is now a four-time All-Big Ten selection – the first in program history – having earned second-team honors in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Terefenko, a three-time honoree, was previously a first-team pick in 2018 and 2019. Myers, a junior from Bethesda, Md., has been remarkably consistent this season. He’s scored at least two goals in all 10 games and has finished with four or more points seven times. Myers currently ranks fourth in the conference in goals per game (3.10) and sixth in points per game (4.10). His 31 goals and 41 points are both team highs while his 10 assists are second-most on the squad.

Buckeyes Earn All-B1G Accolades

Share COLUMBUS, Ohio – Four members of the Ohio State women’s lacrosse team have earned All-Big Ten honors, the conference announced Thursday. Liza Hernandez was named First Team All-Big Ten, while MK Bonanni, Lindsay Epstein and Jillian Rizzo all were named to the second team. The All-Big Ten teams were selected by the league’s seven coaches. Each team features three attackers, three midfielders, three defenders and a goalie and six at-large selections. Hernandez, who plays attack, was an at-large selection to the first team, while Rizzo and Bonanni were Second Team All-Big Ten as the goalie and a defender, respectively, with Epstein, who plays midfield, an at-large selection to the second team.

Five Buckeyes Named All-Big Ten

Share COLUMBUS, Ohio – In what has become an annual occurrence, Ohio State has once again dominated the men’s tennis All-Big Ten awards. Five Buckeyes were named to either the first or second team, the most of any school in the conference, and Cannon Kingsley and   Kingsley was the conference head coach’s unanimous choice for Athlete of the Year while Tracy was named the Freshman of the Year.
