SALT LAKE CITY Get ready for the heat.
Several high-temperature records for cities and towns across Utah are slated to fall Thursday and Friday, meteorologists at the National Weather Service tweeted Wednesday. The agency also issued an excessive heat warning for southern Utah and a heat advisory for most of northern Utah as the temperatures rise.
The weather service forecasts that Salt Lake City will reach 100 degrees Fahrenheit on Friday, which would set a record for the earliest 100-degree day, breaking a record set just last year.
You can blame the usual suspect for the early heat: a high-pressure system forming over the state, which will keep most clouds at bay and keep us hot throughout the remainder of the week, said KSL meteorologist Grant Weyman.
