World-Famous or Legendary Muskie “Hotspots” – Part VI

In Part V, we learned of the first Legendary “Hotspot” in the Turtle-Flambeau Flowage. My dear friend, the late Bill Tutt was an interesting Muskie Master there, as will be noted in the following story of Big George, a fish that created yet another Legendary “Hotspot” on the Flambeau side of the Flowage. I personally knew Bill to be a top notch muskie hunter, sportsman and mentor, who had tagged and released many large muskies and kept a few in the earlier days. In addition, Bill was a great storyteller, as the excerpts quoted here from this amazing and long tale will prove. The relatively small sand bar that Big George frequented is an interesting spot, as will be noted.

World-Famous or Legendary Muskie “Hotspots” – Part VII

Where will the next World Record muskie come from? My good friend and fellow author, Bill Hamblin (Billy and I co-wrote a five-year series of “Musky Hunter’s Almanacs” from 1996 thru 2000), believes it will come from Georgian Bay, where he guided for several years. When I started writing this series on muskie “Hotspots”, I reached out to him for multiple reasons, least of which is his vast knowledge of Georgian Bay and the Legendary “Hotspots” he knows and has fished. These facts were borne out to me once again as I re-read his recently published (2015), GREAT book on fishing the Bay and one man’s story of spending “120 Days” of a single season chasing a record muskie there. The cover of his book is a photograph of a point of land in “Blackstone Harbour” (Canadian spelling),so we will have a look there. According to Bill,

George Foreman shared an interesting insight about his rivalry with Muhammad Ali.
During his active years in boxing, Foreman became famous for his incredible knockout power. Atop that, only the late Ali, whom he eventually became friends with, was able to knock him out inside the ring.
When recently asked by a fan on Twitter about the “one thing” he would have done differently before his fight with Ali, the 72-year-old suggested that he would not change a thing even if he is given the chance to do it all over again.

At the former Greek royal palace at Tatoi, outside Athens, the family cemetery lies amid wooded slopes at the southern end of an estate that once covered 40,000 acres of pine-scented foothills of Mount Parnes. There a simple inscription adorns the tomb of Prince Philip’s father, Prince Andrew, or Andrea, of Greece: ‘
Andrea Vasilopais (son of a King) Prince of Greece Prince of Denmark 1882-1944’.
The Greek royal family into which Prince Philip was born is Danish in origin. His paternal grandfather was only 17 when, in 1863, the Greek National Assembly elected him to be their king. He took the title George I; in his family, he was known as William.
