Looking to continue to support local community groups, First State Skate Supply has started selling Autism Delaware-themed raffle tickets, T-shirt and stickers.
Shop co-owner Joe Moore said the business helped a local branch Boys & Girls Club last year. This year, he continued, they decided to do something a little different, but still help a local organization.
James West, First State Skate Supply co-owner, said he was inspired to help Autism Delaware because his aunt is a special education teacher in Maryland.
Brett Gershman, employment support professional for Autism Delaware’s POW&R program, said he was happy the First State Skate team was lending a hand for an important cause. The hope is to be able to have a spin-off program, he said.

Second Swell effort to support local nonprofits April 7, 2021
Second Swell will host its inaugural sustainable shopping event from 12 to 6 p.m., Friday and Saturday, April 16 and 17, at Big Chill Surf Cantina in support of the Delaware Center for the Inland Bays and the Delaware Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
Second Swell was conceived by a group of local women as an opportunity to increase the value of the sustainable clothing movement while giving back to an environmental organization and shelter provider.
The event will showcase gently used clothing and accessories from a variety of vendors who are general community members. Those vendor items will be for sale at reduced prices, all under $30, for an outdoor shopping experience.
