The level of fame afforded to celebrities and college athletes can, at times, seem quite comparable. At schools like the University of Florida or Ohio State where sports reign supreme and tailgates are the hottest event of the semester, the young men and women whose athletic abilities have earned them a spot on the team are campus stars. This setup, of course, also comes with complications.

UNION CITY, Mich. â A Union City wrestling coach is paving the way for other women in the industry, recently being named head coach for the district s middle school team.
It s been seven years since Angelica Iobe was a student at Union City Middle School, and now she s returning as the head wrestling coach. This makes history as the only woman coach in the Big Eight Conference. Iâm hoping that me as a coach can make girls say âHey if she can coach, I can wrestleâ, said Union City Middle School s Head Wrestling Coach Angelica Iobe.

With the COVID-19 pandemic shrinking the number of matches each school is allotted this winter, including no multi-team meets, coupled with the smaller nature of other Capitol Conference teams, the Blue Devils have ventured out on their own this season.
For head coach Cody Endres and the rest of his staff, the decision was an easy one to make.
âAs coaches we talked about it at the beginning of the season like, âWhat do we want to do? Do we want to stay in conference and have an opportunity to win conference again, or do we want to take care of the guys on the team this year and make sure they get matches?ââ he said.
