Pennington, Jackson County firefighters respond to Monday morning structure fire

KNBN NewsCenter1 February 15, 2021 JACKSON COUNTY, S.D. Firefighters from Jackson and Pennington Counties responded to a structure fire in the 24000 block of 206 Avenue in an un-incorporated area of Jackson County shortly after 11 a.m. on Monday. Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters found a free-burning fire creating heavy smoke and visible flames in the interior of the residential structure. Weather conditions were extremely unfavorable, with temperatures at seven-below-zero and winds making it feel like 31 below. SD DOH: 321 total new COVID-19 cases, 14 deaths statewide

PIERRE, S.D. On Saturday, the South Dakota Department of Health reported 237 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 92,726. 84 of the 321 total cases are considered as new probable cases. 14 South Dakota residents have died due to coronavirus-related complications. The state death toll is now 1,570. 67  confirmed.

Commissioners Approve Transfer of Juvenile Diversion Funds to the Watertown Boys and Girls Club for Future Program Administration

The Codington County Commissioners met for their weekly meeting on Tuesday morning at the Codington County Courthouse.  During the meeting they heard from Emergency Management Director Jamie Torstenson who told the commissioners that he is continuing to monitor the local COVID Numbers….. A total of 195 COVID Vaccinations had been given in the County as of Tuesday afternoon with a total of 7,844 given statewide.  The commissioners also heard from State’s Attorney Rebecca Morlock-Reeves who requested the commissioners approve the allocation of Juvenile Justice Reinvestment Funds which are specifically earmarked for the Juvenile Diversion Program at the Watertown Boys and Girls Club.  Reeves explained….

SD DOH: 905 total new COVID-19 cases, 39 deaths statewide December 16, 2020 228 of Wednesday’s 905 total cases are considered as new probable cases. 39 South Dakota residents have died from coronavirus-related complications. The state death toll is now 1,300. 219 confirmed cases were reported in West River: 121 in Pennington County, 29 in Meade County, 25 in Oglala Lakota County, nine in Fall River County, seven each in Butte and Custer Counties, four in Perkins County, three each in Lyman and Tripp Counties, two each in Dewey, Jackson and Stanley Counties and one each in Corson, Gregory, Harding, Mellette and Todd Counties. 73 probable cases were reported West River: 30 in Dewey County, eight in Ziebach County, six each in Stanley and Tripp Counties, five each in Haakon and Todd Counties, four each in Lyman and Pennington Counties, three in Meade County and one each in Mellette and Oglala Lakota Counties.
