The statement by the eight Republicans says: “Unfortunately, the many unlawful actions undertaken by the Pennsylvania Governor s office, the Secretary of State, and what has been described as a rogue Pennsylvania Supreme Court exceeded and circumvented the state legislature s clear constitutional authority.
It cited numerous unlawful actions, such as accepting ballots after 8 p.m. on Election Day and authorizing the curing of mail-in ballots, which some counties allowed but others did not.
Boockvar said 9.1 million Pennsylvanians are registered to vote. Over 76 percent of registered Pennsylvanians voted in the election. The votes were counted accurately and securely whether they were cast by mail or at the polls.

Eight Republican members of Congress from Pennsylvania, falling in line with President Donald Trump, said that they will oppose the state s electoral votes being cast Wednesday for President-elect Joe Biden.
Those eight will join dozens of other Republicans around the country whom Trump has enlisted to challenge the Electoral College vote when Congress convenes in a joint session to confirm Biden’s 306-232 win.
As one of six states that flipped from Trump in 2016 to Biden in 2020, Pennsylvania could have a spotlight on it during debate over the Electoral College vote.
On Tuesday morning, Representative Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), a longtime ally of President Donald Trump and his administration, took to Twitter to impart what he calls some “hard truths” to the American people, especially supporters of the president currently in high anticipation of the objection by at least 100 Republican members and like-minded senators in the House of Representatives on January 6 to the electoral college votes for last November’s presidential election.
Massie began by saying that these facts are something “few want to acknowledge publicly”:
@RepThomasMassie
Some hard truths that few want to acknowledge publicly:
(1) If every Republican votes to disallow every Biden elector on January 6th, Biden will still be declared the winner by Congress. This is simple math, Democrats are in the majority and will vote to keep the Biden electors.

HARRISBURG (AP) Eight Republican members of Congress from Pennsylvania, falling in line with President Donald Trump, said that they will oppose the state’s electoral votes being cast Wednesday for President-elect Joe Biden.

Editorâs Note:
U.S. Rep. Dan Meuser submitted the following column in reaction to our Tuesday editorial, âMeuser should support the will of the voters, not Trumpâs.â
The U.S. Constitution is unambiguous in declaring that state legislatures are the entity with the authority to set election procedures and to enact any changes to election law. Article 1, Section 4, Clause 1 states, âThe Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereofâ¦â
Again, the Constitution is clear with no room for misinterpretation. The authority of election procedures lies with the state legislature, period. In Pennsylvania, this authority was indisputably usurped by the Pennsylvania Governorâs Office, by the Pennsylvania Secretary of State and by the Pennsylvania state Supreme Court.
