May 11, 2021 You can watch a Wahoos game and get a COVID-19 vaccine at the same time at two upcoming games. The Pensacola Blue Wahoos, in partnership with the Florida Department of Health in Escambia County, will offer free COVID-19 vaccines to fans at their games on  Saturday, May 15, and Sunday, May 16. Johnson & Johnson single-shot vaccines will be available to medically-eligible fans ages 18 and up and will be administered by Department of Health nurses. “We’re so excited for the opportunity to work together with the Florida Department of Health to offer vaccines to our fans,” team president Jonathan Griffith said. “Helping get Pensacola vaccinated meets our mission as an organization to improve the quality of life in our community. I’m so excited about this chance that I’ve committed to get vaccinated myself on the dugout during the 7th inning stretch while singing Take Me Out To The Ballpark!”

The M-Braves finished the opening series, 2-4, winning the final two games thanks to four home runs and an 11-3 margin. Of Mississippi’s 16 runs this season, 12 have come via the long ball. Rain paused play as the M-Braves (2-4) were coming to bat in the bottom of the seventh inning. After a 30 minute delay, the game was deemed official, and Mississippi celebrated Mother’s Day with their second straight game over Pensacola (4-2).

Mississippi Braves kick off season

(WJTV) – In Wednesday’s home opener, Trustmark Park operated at 100% capacity but there were still many seats open. Fans were looking forward to a big crowd but even without it, they were just excited to have Mississippi Braves baseball back.  The Mississippi Braves take on the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, the AA affiliate of the Miami Marlins. It has been 611 since the Braves have played at Trustmark Park, due to COVID-19. This game against the Pensacola Wahoo’s was scheduled for Tuesday but because of severe weather it was postponed. “It’s been a while since we’ve been up here. I brought my grandbabies with my son and his wife and we plan on having a good time” said Braves fan, Keith Johnston.
