Bar San Juan in the trendy Manchester neighbourhood of Chorlton does without doubt the best tapas I have eaten outside Spain. The little restaurant’s immense popularity and lack of tables means you have to book well in advance, but it’s worth the wait. The menu is small but refined: their
saquitos de cordero (little lamb parcels) and
pisto con queso de cabra (vegetables with goat’s cheese) are both indescribably good. The interior decor with flamenco posters adds to the experience and a jug of the homemade sangria can transport you to Andalucía even on the most dreary of Mancunian days.
Already pupils are using the new practice and classrooms at Westholme School in Blackburn. It aims to have all pupils based on Senior School’s campus at the end of Meins Road by September next year. Now the first stage of the reorganisation from three sites to one - known as ‘Project W’ - has been completed. It involved relocating and upgrading the music facilities to Wilmar Lodge. The work was completed this month and students are already learning in their new surroundings. HOME, the annual limited release from Dissident Cigars, is on its way to retailers.
This marks the third release of HOME since Ben Holt acquired the Dissident brand in January 2019. Originally a Honduran puro when it debuted in 2015, Holt worked with James Brown at Fabrica Oveja Negra and came up with a new blend that uses a dual wrapper of Ecuadorian maduro and corojo leaves, an Ecuadorian binder, and fillers from Nicaragua. While more specific details about the blend are being kept under wraps, Holt has previously said that he is very proud of how the blend brings out a flavor that he feels is the taste of Estelí, Nicaragua.
