A quarter-century of nights, of lunches taken after dark. Of waiting for plates in the beginning and scraping ink off the presses at the end. âI havenât painted my nails in, oh, 20-something years,â said Ladda Peterson, 54. Ink gets under the nails and bond solution ruins the paint. âIâm going to paint my nails every other day.â
Her parents fled from Laos during the Vietnam War and ended up in a refugee camp. Years later, Peterson followed family to Florida, where the weather recalled home. She needed health insurance for her and her daughter, even if that meant shifts that stretched into 3 or 4:30 a.m. She met her husband here. She watched the place grow, grow, grow, and shrink. âIâm proud. We had come so far,â she said. âThis is all I know.â

Tributes have been paid to Huntingdon man Dan King who died on January 29 following a long battle with cancer.
Dan leaves behind his wife Sinead and four children, Sadie 16, Jackson 12, Marcie10 and Tilda 8 and also his eight siblings and parents.
Dan and Sinead were together for 25 years and lived in Brampton for 14 years and both attended Hinchingbrooke School.

All Dan s children are talented, with Sadie inheriting her father s love of music and the guitar.
Jackson is also an aspiring footballer and plays for the Godmanchester Town as part of the Eastern Junior Alliance.

Veterans of Foreign Wars, the VFW, is honoring a northeast Washington man for his community service after his active duty ended.
Ben Hayhurst’s contribution is related to helping first responders who struggle with mental health issues.
Hayhurst from Elk, Washington has come a long way since 2004, when he returned from the Iraq War with physical and mental injuries. He’s now considered disabled. While working through those injuries, he took up knife making as a therapeutic activity.

A man has been given a suspended prison sentence after pleading guilty to 15 charges relating to the supply and distribution of illegal tobacco products.
Choli Hassan Ali, aged 45 of Diamond Batch in Worle, was sentenced to 10-weeks imprisonment suspended for 12 months, and ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid work in the community and to pay £2,700 prosecution costs with a £115 victim surcharge.
The hearing at North Somerset Courthouse, in St Georges, on February 19 was told that in February 2019 nearly 25,000 cigarettes and 23kg of hand rolling tobacco were seized from Ali’s home address and vehicle following an intelligence-led visit by North Somerset Council’s Trading Standards Service accompanied by the police and a specialist officer from Trading Standards South West’s Regional Intelligence Unit.
