Theater review: Warner s 1-act play festival closes with Saul

April 14, 2021 BY NANCY SASSO JANIS | REPUBLICAN-AMERICAN TORRINGTON–The final installation of the virtual edition of the Warner Theatre’s ninth annual International Playwrights Festival premiered on YouTube over the weekend. Humans Lea Dmytryck and Beth Steinberg, along with stuffed dog Marla Steinberg and real dog Stella Luna Ray, star in “Saul,” a one-act play written by Colleen O’Doherty. The playwright, who holds a master of fine arts in play and screenwriting from the University of Nebraska, shares that she wrote this piece for a friend who has been living with AIDS for many years.
