After an unforgettable All-Star Break, it’s time to resume regular season play. The Rockies will do so as they stay at home and welcome the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers.
Antonio Senzatela was going to take the mound for the Rockies, but has been shelved as the Rockies deal with a COVID outbreak among their staff. Starting in his place will be González (3-5, 5.51 ERA). The Rockies have lost Senzatela, Jhoulys Chacín, and Yency Almonte from their pitching staff, and Yonathan Daza from their lineup. To fill their spots, the Rockies have called up Ben Bowden, Sam Hilliard, Antonio Santos, Zac Rosscup. Look for them to see some action on Friday. The coaching staff will look different as well - how that affects the game will be a huge factor.

Clayton Kershaw’s injured list stint for left forearm inflammation is expected to last longer than 10 days, with the Dodgers eying the long season.
“He’ll start playing catch here in the next few days, then we’ll kind of build him back up,” manager Dave Roberts said Friday. “This is something that, with the soreness, and taking some time off to build back up for the sprint, I think it makes sense, and Clayton’s on board with that.”
Kershaw has a 3.39 ERA and 2.99 FIP in his 106⅓ innings in his 18 starts this season, already more than his 89 total innings last year counting the postseason. But even ignoring the massive jump after the truncated season, Kershaw averaged 166 innings from 2016-19 during the regular season, never more than 178⅓ innings during that time.

Antonio Senzatela was originally scheduled to start against the Dodgers tonight, but he is inactive as are pitchers Yency Almonte and Jhoulys Chacín, and outfielder Yonathan Daza. Colorado will instead send Chi Chi González to the mound on short notice, and without the standard long-relief safety net of Chacín.

The Colorado Rockies will be without manager Bud Black, first base coach Ron Gideon and several players for Friday night s game due to COVID-19 contact tracing protocols, the team announced.
Colorado placed right-handed pitcher Yency Almonte, right-handed pitcher Jhoulys Chacin, outfielder Yonathan Daza and right-handed pitcher Antonio Senzatela on the injured list.
Senzatela was slated to start Friday night s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Chi Chi Gonzalez will get the start in his place.
Bench coach Mike Redmond will assume managerial duties and Major League Data Game Planning Coordinator Doug Bernier will serve as the first base coach.
