ServSafe class offered in Juniata County by Penn State | News, Sports, Jobs

Apr 21, 2021 MIFFLINTOWN The ServSafe Food Safety Manager Course, conducted by Penn State Extension, is being held at the Walker Grange, 6611 William Penn Highway, Mifflintown, PA from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, May 10, and classroom work from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Monday, May 17, with the certification exam beginning that day at noon. This training will be taught by Sharon McDonald, Senior Extension Educator and certified ServSafe instructor and will help participants learn how to prevent contamination of food by properly receiving, storing, preparing, cooking, cooling and serving the food, as well as proper methods of sanitizing foodservice facilities. After completing the course and passing the multiple-choice exam with a 75 percent or higher score, participants will receive a ServSafe Food Protection Manager certificate. This certification is good for five years.

GetGo grand opening to debut new mascot, include gift card and Penguins giveaways

A new GetGo fuel station and convenience store will host a grand opening Friday afternoon in Murrysville. The station, located between Old William Penn Highway and Route 22 near the Murrysville Giant Eagle, will hold a 2:30 p.m. ribbon-cutting and officials will make a $5,000 donation to the Franklin Regional Panther Foundation, a nonprofit that raises money to provide additional educational opportunities and programming for Franklin Regional students. Guests visiting throughout the weekend can register for GetGo’s gift card giveaway and to win a Penguins prize pack between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. More than $3,500 in gift cards will be given away, and the Penguins prize pack includes a pair of game tickets, a puck signed by Evgeni Malkin and a ticket to the opening of the GetGo concession at PPG Paints Arena.

Chase Bank plans construction at former Willi s shop in Monroeville

Monroeville’s banking options are expected to grow by one as Chase Bank plans to erect a new building along William Penn Highway. The JP Morgan bank plans on demolishing Willi’s Ski & Snowboard Shop, which has sat vacant since November. Erin Gogolin, an assistant project manager for Bohler Engineering, presented the bank’s plans to Monroeville’s planning commission in March.
