Penn State provides guidance on weather disruptions during hybrid operations

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. With Penn State returning to a hybrid of in-person and remote operations on Feb. 15, the University has updated its guidance for students, faculty and staff in the event a campus ceases normal operations due to weather, power outages or other emergencies.
Classes
In the event of a change in normal campus operations due to weather, instructors teaching in any mode of instruction may opt to deliver instruction asynchronously.

Penn State DuBois Assistant Teaching Professor of Wildlife Technology Emily Thomas hasn’t just found silver linings during the pandemic, she has also provided them.
Thomas recently made presentations on wildlife species, via Zoom, to first- and second-graders at Shelter Rock Elementary School on Long Island, New York. She held two presentations, one focusing on bald eagles, and another featuring reptiles and amphibians.

Penn State DuBois service learning supports success of Lumber Heritage Region

Like the countless trees that have reclaimed Pennsylvania’s once cleared forest land, an effort has taken root to help preserve the history of communities founded upon the heritage of the region’s lumber industry. A group of Penn State DuBois students are helping the Lumber Heritage Region (LHR) to grow the opportunities built upon this foundation. Juniors in Business Administration 321 at Penn State DuBois were assigned a project in which they broke up into teams to research ideas that could stimulate the growth of local communities. They recently presented their findings to LHR administrators through Zoom.

Athletes have sacrificed the opportunity to participate in their sport, yet they’ve remained dedicated to their training and to their academic success. Penn State DuBois student-athletes are no different and have continued to work overtime to achieve their goals amid COVID restrictions.
David Kozlowski majors in wildlife technology at Penn State DuBois with plans to further his education in the Wildlife and Fisheries Science program at University Park. The Russellton, Pennsylvania, native and right-handed pitcher on the Penn State DuBois baseball team is a graduate of Deer Lakes High School.
