LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Frank Johnson, Jr. was an assistant platoon sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. When he returned to Beauregard Parish, he wound up at First National Bank of DeRidder as a porter.
“I got hired as a janitor,” recalled Johnson. “Worked 41 years and retired as a vice president.”
After retiring from the bank on a Friday, he started with the Beauregard Sheriff’s Office on Monday. He stayed there for over two decades, first as a patrol deputy and later with the Senior Care Unit. He always had a positive word for younger people at Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Last year was a tough one for Ōmokoroa-based Spoffit Reid: His father died, he lost his job and he was juggling the demands of building a new home - all amid the anxieties of the Covid-19 pandemic.
But Reid (Ngāi Te Rangi) has come out the end of it with a Certificate of Small Business & Project Management, Level 4, from Te Wānanga o Aotearoa in Tauranga.
He is one of hundreds of Te Wānanga o Aotearoa tauira (students) due to attend the latest Tauranga campus graduation ceremony this Friday at Bethlehem Baptist Church.

WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Lexington Medical Center will be hosting several COVID-19 vaccination clinics next week.
The clinics will be held at the hospital’s northeast location and Bethlehem Baptist Church.
It will be administering the first doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
The vaccine clinics at Lexington Medical Center Northeast will take place on Monday, April 19 from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 20 from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., and Wednesday, April 21 from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
