Medford Fastpitch Wins Slugfest Against Bethlehem Academy The Meford Tigers traveled to Faribault today and went home with a 10-8 win in the Gopher Conference.  Both teams are young.  The Tigers with 3 seniors, the Cardinals 2 seniors. Bethlehem Academy 8th grader Morgan Wilson started in the pitching circle by throwing 9 pitches in the first half inning which took 3 minutes. The bottom of the first may have been a omen of things to come for the Cardinals.  The first two batters reached on errors putting runners at first and second with no outs.  Medford pitcher, freshman Kenzie Velishek struck out the heart of the lineup looking and swinging and in between lead BA hitter Anna Tobin was thrown out trying to steal third base.

Owatonna Lacrosse Sweeps Big Nine Titles The Owatonna High School girls lacrosse team clinching the Big Nine title Saturday, in essence repeating as conference champs after winning the title in 2019 and having no season in 2020. They also won the championship in 2018. The Huskies went 5-0 in games that counted toward the standings this spring. A recent loss to Century was a non-conference game as the Huskies won the first meeting. The OHS boys wrapped up the league title a couple of weeks ago, going 4-0 in conference games. There is a one fewer boys team in the Big Nine as Century is together with John Marshall as a coop this season. The Huskies boys last won the title in 2018.

Moran, Simon Combine for Ten Goals as Huskies Stay Unbeaten Big Nine Conference leading Owatonna (7-0) kept their unbeaten season going with a 14-4 girls lacrosse win over second-place Mankato (5-3) Monday at OHS. Anni Moran scored six times. Audrey Simon tallied four goals. Madi Bruessel notched two goals. Grace Smith and Allie Keller each had a goal. Zoe Anderson got her seventh win. Moran s 35 goals has her ninth in the state in scoring according to the Lacrosse Hub at the Star Tribune. She also has nine assists. Simon is 17th in the state with 14 assists. She also has scored 20 times. Anderson is tied for second in the state with seven victories.
