BETHEL Last Wednesday, via Zoom, a group of business, municipal and non-profit leaders launched mahoosucway.com, and with it, the websites pledge to “embrace our place.”
The website said the pledge “helps us communicate our community values to newcomers and visitors.” The five major points of the pledge are to “honor the land, explore wisely, show respect, cultivate community and be climate conscious.”

It has been one of my greatest pleasures this past 14 months (since November 2019) to work with the women of the Repant! Tote group and I have volunteered to share a bit about how it began, and what the fruits of our labor have been.
In addition to the incredible bond that these women have formed, we have created and sewn more than 425 custom totes from up-cycled men’s slacks, decorated with t-shirts, fabric scraps, and various other textiles. The concept was created by District Exchange volunteer Susan Lowe of Albany, with the support of Maryvonne Wheeler. On behalf of the Museums of the Bethel Historical Society, a sincere thank you to everyone in the Bethel area community for supporting our annual “Christmas at the Moses Mason House”. Both your in-person and financial support helped to once again, make this event a success! Thank you for signing up for your personal “pod”, for masking up to keep everyone safe, and for adapting to an altered way of viewing the house, but for also still celebrating with us.
There were wonderful people who volunteered to decorate, host, and greet visitors, Telstar Interact Club provided student helpers, the Library participated with stories and small gifts for children, and even Mother Nature co-operated, sort of!
