Nasty-Looking Crash in Bethel Causes Traumatic Injury to Occupant

According to the Stony Hill Volunteer Fire Company in Bethel, local firefighters and emergency personnel responded to the crash after it was reported in the area of Old Hawleyville Road just after 5:00 PM on Tuesday (January 19).
From there, first responders say they were able to determine that the vehicle lost control, veering off of the road, and striking into a tree before rolling over and coming to a final rest in a private residential driveway.
Thankfully, both of the vehicle s occupants were able to get themselves out of harm s way, exiting the upside-down car before the EMS and fire company arrived at the scene.

The patch redesign was initiated by Chief Jeffrey Finch approximately four years ago and upon his retirement from the department, Chief Pugner continued his efforts. Bethel PD: Danbury man arrested after allegedly running from officers, falling through frozen pond

BETHEL A Danbury man was arrested Christmas Day after allegedly being caught breaking into a car, then falling through a frozen pond while running from officers, according to the Bethel Police Department.
In a release, officials said officers responded to near Meckauer Circle “after a local resident observed a person trying to enter a car parked in their driveway.”
Police found a running vehicle with discarded items lying in the road when they arrived, according to the release. Officers then saw a man running through the woods away from the area.

According to the Bethel Police Department, they received a report on Christmas Day (December 25) that a resident in the area of Meckauer Circle saw someone trying to enter a vehicle that was reportedly parked in the resident s driveway.
When officers arrived, they reported cam upon the car in question, which not only had its engine running, but had a bunch on items that were believed to once be in the vehicle scattered about on the ground. That s when the responding officers spotted a man running through the woods away from the Meckauer Circle residential area, according to the department.
The second, more recent police shooting in Bethel took place around noon on Dec. 11. Police Chief Richard Simmons said that two officers were called to the intersection of Osage Street and Mission Drive.
“They were called by behavioral health personnel from the hospital,” Simmons said. “And they had lost a guy. They had had a guy take his knife away from them, and he had severe mental problems.”
At the scene, one of the officers drew his pistol and shot the man holding the knife. Simmons said that the man was flown to Anchorage for emergency surgery and was still in the critical care unit of the hospital the last time he checked. He said that the man will be charged with assault in the third degree.
