The year that was 2020 December 28, 2020 Reading time: 4 min

2021 is just around the corner, but before it is here, I want to take a minute to look back on the year that was.
For the past 12 months, I’ve heard 2020 cursed again and again as a year that has been terrible for everyone.
This year has been challenging for sure. Everyone worldwide has had to endure the COVID-19 pandemic and the changes it has forced on our society and economy.
There were very few occasions this year where I would write a story that didn’t mention COVID-19 at some point. What I want to highlight the successes that we have seen in our region over the past year, despite the adversity of the pandemic.
With that shot, Sandusky County began its first round of COVID-19 vaccinations.
Jackson, the county s EMS director, and other EMS personnel received their first Moderna vaccine doses at the county health department s clinic.
Bethany Brown, Sandusky County Public Health commissioner, said the health department would be doing 10 vaccinations Monday, with more scheduled later in the week. That was probably the best shot I ve ever had, Jackson said, after Deb Agee, the health department s director of nursing, administered his vaccination. It was pretty much painless.
Brown said the county expected to get around 200 doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine for the first doses.
