PEORIA After several months and at least two deferrals, the Peoria City Council voted Tuesday to approve a car wash that will replace a North Peoria shopping center.
The council voted unanimously to allow the owners of the Glen Haven Shopping Center to sell the property to Club Car Wash, which will knock down the 66-year-old shopping center and a vacant house that is located just north of the shopping center that sits at the corner of Glen and University.
Members of the Joseph family, who owns the parcel, as well as City Councilman Tim Riggenbach, who represents the area, gave an impassioned plea for the council to approve the development.
