COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Both Benton and Randolph counties are scheduled to host mass vaccination events Wednesday.
The Benton County Health Department posted about the event on its Facebook page, advising residents to call (660) 438-2876 if they haven t yet received a call and are on the list.
The event is set to run from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Warsaw Shriners Club located on 32605 Highway MM Warsaw, Mo 65355.
According to the state s website, the Benton County event still had slots available as of Wednesday morning.
This will be the second day of the mass vaccination event in Benton. The health department said in a Facebook post it was able to vaccinate over 1,100 people Tuesday.
Mid-Willamette Valley business owners said theyâre frustrated by the stateâs COVID-19 restrictions, calling them arbitrary, too strict, confusing and at times contradictory.
Restaurants in downtown Albany could reopen at 25% capacity or a 50-person limit, whichever is smaller, starting on Friday, but North Albany eateries a mile away in the same city had to remain closed for indoor dining. Thatâs because downtown Albany is in Linn County, which dropped to the stateâs high risk category for the first time since November, while Benton County stayed at extreme risk.
âEverybody knows that the Willamette River stops the coronavirus,â quipped Kevin Fujikawa, the owner of Frankieâs Restaurant in North Albany.

While 2021 has just begun, Oregon’s public universities already have their sights set on the upcoming fall, and the possibility of increasing what occurs on campus and in person. High school seniors are facing college application deadlines, with some looming this coming week and some that have officially passed.
Currently, the majority of Oregon’s seven public universities are planning to increase or restore in-person learning, including the state’s three largest Oregon State University, University of Oregon and Portland State University as well as Eastern Oregon University.
Southern Oregon University said it hopes to be primarily in-person in the fall, while Western Oregon University and Oregon Institute of Technology both said it’s too early to make that call. The details of each school’s plans vary based on local circumstances.
OSU Anticipates More In-Person Classes This Fall as Application Deadlines Loom
February 1, 2021
Earlier this month, Oregon State University shared its plans to have more in-person classes this fall just before its application deadline.
On January 15, in a message to faculty and staff, OSU President F. King. Alexander said, “We do anticipate a more traditional campus experience in the fall and will provide you updates as we continue through the spring and summer.”
This message was delivered a few weeks before the fall term application deadline for incoming freshman on February 1, though on its website OSU says late applications will be accepted on a “space-available basis.”
