This is part of a larger arrangement being made by its Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee to hold similar camps at all court complexes across the State this month to provide an opportunity to the regional court staff, lawyers and their family members to get inoculated. High Court’s Registrar (Administration) V. Devanathan has issued a circular to the office-bearers of Madras High Court Advocates Association, Madras Bar Association, Women Lawyers Association and the Law Association of the City Civil Court, situated within the High Court campus, soliciting the names of their members and family members who would wish to take the jab during the vaccination camp.

Judge Increases Custodial Sentence Of Rape Convict From 11 to 45 Years

High Court Judge Annabel Mtalimanja has increased a custodial sentence for a convict of defilement from 11 years to 45 years. Levison Harlod, 33 was convicted of defiling a four old child on 28th December, 2019 after her mother had gone for prayers. According to the evidence brought by the prosecution in court, the victim said she was raped at the suspect’s house. The evidence also shows that a test at Kamuzu Central Hospital confirmed that the child was defiled. In the review of the sentence, Judge Mtalimanja has argued that the accused is a very mature man with three children and its confusing why a grown man would sexually exert himself on such a young child.

Library of Congress exhibit arrives in San Luis Obispo

–After a one-year delay due to COVID-19 restrictions, a special traveling exhibit from the Library of Congress has arrived in San Luis Obispo. The exhibit commemorates the centennial anniversary of the 19th Amendment, which guaranteed and protected women’s constitutional right to vote. Presented by the San Luis Obispo County Bar Association, the exhibit is currently on display at the San Luis Obispo County Law Library (1050 Monterey Street, Suite #125) and will debut at the San Luis Obispo County Public Library (995 Palm Street) on May 4 before departing on Sept.18, 2021. The exhibit, “100 Years After the 19th Amendment: Their Legacy, and Our Future,” was curated by the Library of Congress and received a 2019 GDUSA American Graphic Design Award. The exhibit is free to view and open to the public.
