Greater Grand Forks Young Professionals launch Orange Bag Event to support local charity efforts

Photo by Bonnie Meibers/Grand Forks HeraldPhoto by Bonnie Meibers/Grand Forks Herald The Greater Grand Forks Young Professionals is sponsoring the Orange Bag Event to gather housewares, clothing and personal care products for 10 local nonprofit organizations. Volunteers will drop off orange bags at hundreds of homes from Friday through Tuesday, April 9-13, for people to fill with household and clothing items and return May 1. The drive will benefit the following local nonprofit organizations: Community Violence Intervention Center, Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch, Grand Forks Salvation Army, Journey Home Animal Rescue, Northlands Rescue Mission, Project Dignity, Red River Valley Community Action, St. Joseph’s Social Care and The Arc, Upper Valley.

The program provides services, supplies and staff for the Boys and Girls Ranch located in Gilbertsville to provide children an opportunity to experience a positive and uplifting summer camp in a supportive setting. Many of the items needed on the wish list are pandemic-related and include touchless thermometers, hand sanitizer, disinfectant spray, disinfecting wipes, face masks, laundry detergent and hand pump soap.
