The August Wilson African American Cultural Center today announced the appointment Tracey McCants Lewis as AWAACC s new Chair of the Board along with the election of four new trustees, Dr. Rahmon Hart, Tony Murphy, Shiv Seth, and Dr. James Taylor. The addition of the new trustees continues to grow the range of community advocates, philanthropists, and business leaders supporting the organization and its mission to offer programs and resources that advance August Wilson s legacy, reflect the universal issues of identity that the playwright tackled, celebrate Black culture, and inspire future innovators in arts and culture.

Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT) has expanded its #BeyondtheHashtag series and gotten new partnership support for the program as the industry continues to promote diversity, equity and inclusion.
The Beyond the Hashtag series was established at the WICT Leadership Conference in the wake of the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements, which ignited a global campaign about the obstacles women encounter routinely in their professional lives. WICT’s #BeyondTheHashtag Series seeks to present real-world solutions by moving workplaces from dialog to action in an effort to build inclusive and equitable workplace cultures that end bias, bigotry and prejudice.

Just when you think you are making great strides toward an important issue, it seems something comes along to disrupt or possibly even dismantle it. The elephant in the room regarding diversity is COVID-19. Along with its many other ill effects, the pandemic has undermined even the most diligent diversity efforts among the publishing, television, radio and digital media sectors. Yet, the fight goes on. It’s a fight I expect media will ultimately win.
Jennifer Dorian named new CEO of PBA

In a specially-called meeting, the board of Public Broadcasting Atlanta (WABE 90.1 FM AND ATL PBA) Tuesday selected Jennifer Dorian, a 20-year veteran of Turner Broadcasting and WarnerMedia, as its new president and CEO.
Dorian, who will begin her new role Jan. 11, will fill the spot of Wonya Lucas, who served as PBA’s CEO from 2015-2020. Lucas recently joined Crown Media Family Networks as president and CEO.
Scott Woelfel, who served PBA as interim CEO throughout the search process, will continue in his role as chief content officer.
