She pulled off a stunning financial coup by selling a controlling share in her make-up and skincare empire in a deal valuing it at £1 billion just seven years after she founded the eponymous company.
But the unstoppable Charlotte Tilbury, dubbed the Mariah Carey of Make-Up, has no intention of resting on her laurels.
Rather than allow her creative muse to ebb away during lockdown, the ever enterprising Tilbury is, I can disclose, currently running her empire from the island of Lamu, off the coast of Kenya.
‘She’s renting a house,’ a fellow visitor tells me, adding that Tilbury’s example is being emulated by droves of London’s Notting Hill set.

The Westbourne Park Road hotspot is frequented by an illustrious and eclectic clientele, a firm favourite with fashion designers, models, actors and musicians; think Stella McCartney, the Delevingne sisters, Victoria Beckham (with David in tow), Jazzy De Lisser and Lady Mary Charteris. Hannah Weiland even hosted her (pre-Covid) Shrimps Resort 20 collection party at what the designer dubs her ‘favourite London pub’, where the likes of Alexa Chung and Orson Fry rubbed shoulders with the Guinness clan (Hannah is married to Arthur Guinness of the famous brewing dynasty).

Dolce & Gabbana have just made it official: Lady Kitty Spencer, Diana’s niece, daughter of a model, fiancée of a man 31 years her senior and ambassador for Centrepoint, the homeless charity, has been appointed an official ambassador of their brand.
The only surprising aspect is that it took so long. Lady Kitty has been a decorative presence at their shows – both on the catwalk and in the front row – for the past four years.
