Earlier this month, Republicans in the Missouri House of Representatives voted to declare Jan. 12, which is the birthday of the late talk radio host
Rush Limbaugh, in honor of the conservative icon, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
However, last Friday, which was the last day of the legislative session, the holiday was omitted from the bill that was passed.
Missouri Democrats were opposed to honoring Limbaugh when the first vote was held.
According to the Post-Dispatch. the holidays that were approved by Missouri lawmakers include Pioneering Black Women’s Day on March 26 in honor of the state s first Black female state senator Gwen Giles, Law Enforcement Appreciation Day on the first Friday of May, Random Acts of Kindness Day on Aug. 31, Mark Twain Day on Nov. 30 as well as designating April as Limb Loss Awareness Month.
