BLUFFTON - The host Bluffton girls basketball team raced to a big early lead and convincingly defeated North Baltimore 50-33 in non-conference action Tuesday night.
The Lady Pirates jumped to a 20-6 first period lead and held a 30-18 cushion at intermission. They extended the margin to 39-22 after three periods and cruised to the victory.
Bluffton improved its record to 4-3 overall with the win. The Tiger girls dropped to 3-2 with the defeat.
Sami Scoles led the victors with 13 points. Junior post Kylie Stackhouse tallied 11 points.
Laykin Garmatter and Kylie Monday each contributed seven points.
The Norfork High School basketball teams had a tough night on the road Tuesday, as they were swept at Viola.
The Lady Panthers fell to the Lady Longhorns 68-41. Lindsey Browning was Viola’s top scorer with 31 points and 12 rebounds, A.J. McCandlis ended up with 16 points, and Kennedy Renfrom provided 12. The Lady Longhorns improve to 15-2 overall and 6-0 in the 1A-2.
Norfork did not fare any better on the boys’ side. The Panthers lost to Viola by a final of 69-31.
Viola will travel to Shirley on Friday.
Salem’s girls came up short on their home floor. The Lady Greyhounds ended up falling to Tuckerman 55-51.
Lesli Collins selected as North Central Missouri College’s Outstanding Employee

Lesli Collins, Facilities Coordinator/Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach, originally from Mercer, MO, has been selected as North Central Missouri College’s Outstanding Employee for December. Lesli, an NCMC alumna, has been employed at NCMC for fourteen years and holds a Master’s in Business Administration from Western Governors University.
As one of her many accomplishments, Lesli helped the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) organization start their cancer awareness basketball game. As of right now, Lesli and FCA have helped raise money for at least five families who have someone battling cancer. These families have either been friends/family of NCMC or in the Trenton community.
Nate Collier and Dillon Ellis combined for 25 points in the win. The Cougars move to 5-0 and win the Hewitt tournament for the second consecutive year. Nowata relied on Mark Price who scored 18 points. The Ironmen take a tough loss to fall to 2-1. (

OKU girl’s take home their second title in this event since 2017. The Lady Cougars played solid basketball as they took an early lead. Chesnie Hewitt had eight points in the first quarter to give OKU a 17-9 lead.
