One of the most beloved events of the year is almost here. WWE Royal Rumble 2021 kicks off at 6 p.m. ET Sunday, with the main card set to get underway at 7 p.m.
While there won t be a crowd this year to count down the entrants, 30 men and 30 women will battle it out for chances to win some gold at WrestleMania 37.
Titles are on the line too, as Drew McIntyre faces Goldberg, Roman Reigns defends the Universal Championship against Kevin Owens in a Last Man Standing match and Carmella tries once more to win the SmackDown Women s Championship from Sasha Banks.

WWE s Mia Yim Reveals Positive COVID-19 Test

WWE s Mia Yim (Reckoning of Retribution) has revealed she has tested positive for COVID-19. The WWE Raw star was a likely entrant in this Sunday s Royal Rumble match, but that is obviously no longer a possibility. A rumor started circulating on social media this morning that Yim had tested positive and she shot down the rumor. However, Yim took a test this afternoon which came back positive.
Yim announced the rest result on social media, writing:
“This morning at around 10:30 am, I debunked a rumor stating I was positive with Covid,” Yim wrote. “For that, I must make a statement. I have been getting tested every week for several months now, all have been negatives. I was negative last week. I got tested this afternoon, less than an hour ago and it came back positive. Please respect my privacy. Please stay safe, wash your hands, and wear a mask. See you all soon!”

The overnight ratings are in for this week s WWE SmackDown, the go-home episode for this Sunday s Royal Rumble event. According to the data published to Showbuzz Daily, WWE averaged 2.228 million viewers on Friday night. The number is based on a first hour that drew 2.294 million viewers and a second hour that drew 2.161 million viewers. If the number holds, it will be down slightly from the last two weeks, though we expect the number to go up a little bit when final figures are released on Monday.
In the coveted 18-49 age group ratings demographic, SmackDown did well as it ranked number one across network television on Friday night with a 0.60 demo rating. Last week s show did a 0.63 in the demo.

Adam Pearce Explains Why Some WWE Superstars Can Declare Their Royal Rumble Spots
There’s been a lot of online chatter this year about how random WWE Superstars have “declared” their spots for the WWE Royal Rumble Matches. Superstars like Randy Orton have announced their spots, while others like Drew Gulak have been denied when they tried to do the same.
WWE official Adam Pearce took to Twitter this evening and addressed the Rumble Match declarations.
“It’s actually pretty simple: Those that have been granted the ability to simply declare entry into the Royal Rumble by management are free to do so. Those that haven’t must qualify. I don’t write the rules, I enforce them. [man shrugging emoji,” he wrote.
