Netflix Results Put Pressure On Tech Stocks
S&P 500 futures are under pressure in premarket trading as traders remain worried about rising coronavirus cases in the world while Netflix results weigh on tech stocks.
The situation in India continues to get worse. Yesterday, the country reported more than 294,000 new COVID-19 cases. Latin American countries like Argentina and Colombia are also facing a strong wave of the virus.
Virus-related concerns put significant pressure on airlines and other leisure-related stocks in yesterday’s trading session, and it remains to be seen whether they will be able to rebound during today’s trading session.
Wall Street Set To Open Broadly Lower
BRUSSELS/FRANKFURT/PARIS (dpa-AFX) - Trading on Wednesday might be impacted by reaction to the latest earnings news. There are not many economic announcements on the day.
Verizon reported higher earnings for the day. Netflix (NFLX), CSX Corp. (CSX), and Tenet Healthcare (THC) are among the companies releasing their quarterly results after the close of today s trading.
As COVID-19 infections are increasing, more than 40 percent of U.S. citizens have got the first shot of the vaccine, while only 26 percent got the second dose of vaccine.
Asian shares closed mixed, while European shares are trading positive.
The natural gas storage report from the EIA for the week ending April 9th indicated that the amount of natural gas held in underground storage in the US rose by 61 billion cubic feet to 1,845 billion cubic feet by the end of the week, which left our gas supplies 242 billion cubic feet, or 11.6% below the 2,087 billion cubic feet that were in storage on April 9th of last year, but now 11 billion cubic feet, or 0.6% above the five-year average of 1,834 billion cubic feet of natural gas that have been in storage as of the 9th of April in recent years..the 61 billion cubic feet that were added to US natural gas storage this week was less than the average forecast of a 65 billion cubic foot addition from an S&P Global Platts survey of analysts, and was also less than the 68 billion cubic feet added to natural gas storage during the corresponding week of 2020, but it far surpassed the average addition of 26 billion cubic feet of natural gas that have typically been injected into natural ga
Futures Point To Higher Open For Wall Street
BRUSSELS/FRANKFURT/PARIS (dpa-AFX) - Early signs from the U.S. Futures Index suggest that Wall Street might open positive on Wednesday.
The Beige Book, Import and Export Prices for March, and Business Inflation Expectations for April as well as a slew of Fed Speeches including that of Fed Chairman Jerome Powel might influence the investor sentiments today.
Asian shares finished mixed, while European shares are trading up.
As of 7.50 am ET, the Dow futures were adding 9.00 points, the S&P 500 futures were gaining 5.00 points and the Nasdaq 100 futures were up 53.00 points.
