Firmer crude oil prices gave Petronas-related stocks a boost.
At 5pm, the KLCI was up 1.91 points or 0.12% to 1,584.90. Turnover was 8.04 billion shares valued at RM4.17bil. The broader market was firmer with 626 gainers, 489 losers and 465 counters unchanged.
Nearly all key Asian markets closed in the red. China stocks ended lower, paring some of the sharp losses earlier in the session, as worries over signs of liquidity tension ahead of the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday offset continued capital inflows.
